S Gauge Pictures

The layout is 18x22 feet in dimension and features 76 structures from the likes of MTH, Lionel, Walthers, Weaver, K-Line and Plasticville. The layout has two independent loops and typically runs two Baltimore & Ohio trains (one passenger and one freight) in opposite directions.

MOVMRC member Mark Suek constructed the layout, which has 22 vehicles and hundreds of people and trees on it. Trains running on the layout are predominantly newer Lionel American Flyer, S Helper Service and American Models steamers and diesels, supplanted now and then by a Gilbert American Flyer steam locomotive from Mr. Suek’s extensive, museum-quality 1950s S gauge collection.

In addition to the layout and trains running on it, visitors should also note a large amount of American Flyer, SHS and American Models locomotives, rolling stock and accessories on display both above and below.

The S gauge layout, with integral roadbed track from SHS, runs during all club open houses and by appointment. The trains are 1/64 scale.

Additionally, MOVMRC member Casey Shive owns and operates a Gilbert American Flyer layout, made from an “All-Aboard” panel set from the 1960s. This portable set-up can be seen at a number of model railroad events in the community as well as MOVMRC’s annual show and sale at WVU-P the first Saturday in November.
